We built SimpliCEFR with privacy as a core constraint, not an afterthought. Here is exactly what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you hold.

Data We Collect
Text You Submit
When you use SimpliCEFR to simplify text, we process your input to generate a result. This text is never stored on our servers beyond the duration of the request — once the response is sent, it is immediately discarded.
Usage Metadata
We collect minimal anonymous usage data: the number of requests made per day (to enforce free-plan limits), your selected CEFR level, and approximate response times. This data contains no personally identifiable information.
Account Information
If you create an account, we store your email address and hashed password. We never store payment card details directly — all billing is handled by our payment processor, Stripe.
How We Use It
Processing Your Requests
Your submitted text is sent to our AI provider's API solely to generate the simplification result. It is not used to train any model, is not logged on their end beyond standard API audit trails, and is not retained after the request completes.
Service Improvement
We use aggregated, anonymised usage statistics — such as which CEFR levels are most popular or typical word counts — to improve our product. None of this data is linked to individual users.
Communications
If you have an account, we may send you transactional emails (password resets, billing receipts). We will never send you marketing emails without explicit opt-in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Storage & Retention
Text & File Content
Zero retention. Text you paste or files you upload are held in memory for the duration of the API call only. We have no record of what you simplified.
Account Data
Account data is stored in encrypted databases on servers located in the EU. You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing privacy@simplicefr.com.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser local storage solely to remember your daily usage count and session preferences. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
Third Parties
AI Provider
Simplification requests are routed through a third-party AI API. This provider is contractually bound to process data only as instructed, not to retain inputs, and not to use submitted content for model training.
Stripe (Payments)
Billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Their privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data.
No Data Sales
We have never sold user data and never will. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes.
Your Rights
Access & Portability
You have the right to request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We will provide this in a machine-readable format within 30 days of your request.
Correction & Deletion
You may update your account information at any time. You may also request complete deletion of your account and all associated personal data. We will action this within 14 days.
GDPR & CCPA
If you are located in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively, including the right to object to processing and the right to know about data sharing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
