Acceptance of Terms

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using SimpliCEFR — including its website, web application, and any associated services — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use SimpliCEFR. By using the service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the service.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when changes were last made.

The Service

What SimpliCEFR Does

SimpliCEFR is an AI-powered text simplification tool that rewrites submitted text at one of six CEFR language proficiency levels (A1–C2). The service is intended to help users make written content more accessible to a target audience.

Output Accuracy

Simplification results are generated by an AI language model. While we strive for high quality, we make no guarantee that outputs are error-free, entirely faithful to the original meaning, or suitable for any particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing all output before use.

Service Availability

We aim to keep SimpliCEFR available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or discontinue the service at any time for maintenance, upgrades, or any other reason, with or without notice.

Free Plan Limits

The free plan is limited to a set number of requests per day (currently 3). These limits may change at any time. Paid plans offer higher or unlimited usage as described on our pricing page.

Accounts & Billing

Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@simplicefr.com if you suspect any unauthorised use.

Subscriptions

Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method at the start of each billing period. Prices are displayed inclusive of any applicable taxes where required by law.

Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then. We do not issue pro-rata refunds for unused time on monthly plans. Annual plans cancelled within 14 days of purchase may be eligible for a full refund; contact support.

Price Changes

We will give at least 30 days' notice before increasing subscription prices. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Your Content

Ownership

You retain full ownership of any text or files you submit to SimpliCEFR. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content. Simplified outputs generated from your content are also yours to use freely.

Licence to Process

By submitting content, you grant SimpliCEFR a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process that content solely for the purpose of delivering the service — specifically, to pass it to our AI provider and return a result to you. No broader licence is granted.

Prohibited Content

You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes any third party's intellectual property rights. You must not submit content containing personally identifiable information about others without their consent, or content that violates any applicable law or regulation.

No Content Storage

As described in our Privacy Policy, submitted text is not stored after your request is fulfilled. We have no ability to retrieve past submissions.

Prohibited Uses

Misuse of the Service

You may not use SimpliCEFR to: generate spam or bulk unsolicited content; attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the underlying AI model; circumvent usage limits through automated means; or resell or sublicense access to the service without our written consent.

Automated Access

Programmatic access to SimpliCEFR beyond our published API (where applicable) is prohibited without prior written authorisation. Automated bots, scrapers, or scripts that access the web interface are not permitted.

Enforcement

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account that we believe, in our sole discretion, is in violation of these prohibited use policies — with or without prior notice.

Intellectual Property

Our Property

SimpliCEFR, including its name, logo, website design, software, and all associated content (excluding user-submitted text), is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Limited Licence to You

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the service for your personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these Terms. This licence does not include any right to copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our software or content.

Disclaimers & Liability

No Warranty

SimpliCEFR is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SimpliCEFR and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SimpliCEFR and its operators from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service in violation of these Terms.

Governing Law

Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Privacy matters too

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains in detail how we handle your data — including our zero-retention commitment for submitted text.
